This war was mostly held on water but some of the fighting was on the lands of Sicily and Africa. Carthage had the biggest navy and they initially won, but Rome responded strongly and two months later, the Romans had a fleet of over 100 ships, and they beat the Carthaginians.
Second Punic War (218 to 201 BC)
This war is very well known and that's because of Hannibal crossing the alps. He marched elephants across with his army because he thought that they were so big and unstoppable that he'd win. Hannibal tried to take over the most important Italian cities, with no avail. The Carthaginians were beaten again at the Battle of Zama.
Third Punic War (149 to 146 BC)
The third and final war was where Rome finally took Carthage's final big city, ending in the city's destruction. All of the little settlements of Carthage were taken under control of the Romans and the biggest battles of the time were now over, Rome being victorious.
