Fashion
In ancient Rome both men and women wore tunics. A woman's tunic would be ankle-length but men's were shorter. In public, men could wear a toga over their tunic. Toga's were six metres long and wrapped around the body. Wealthy women wore stolas, similar to a toga on top of their tunic. In public they wore a cloak called a palla. Slaves would only wear a tunic. Wigs were often worn by men and women and these wigs were made out of hair from slave's heads. Popular colours were red and blond. Roman women also wore make-up. They lightened their skin colour with chalk and used mulberry juice or the sediment of red wine to colour their lips.
